Prof. Netzer died from injuries sustained from a fall in Herodion. He was one of the leading experts in archaeology of the Second Temple period, excavating in Herodium, Masada, Jericho, Caesarea, Tzipori and Banias, among other sites. In order to support the Committee's petition to the Supreme Court for the prevention of the destruction of the antiquities on the Temple Mount, Netzer contributed to an assessment of the importance of the archaeological site on the Temple Mount and the severity of the damage done to its antiquities. Besides his archaeological and architectural talents, Ehud Netzer was a pleasant, lovely person, modest in spite of his great achievements, personable and caring for everyone and everything around him. May his memory be blessed.
